24 March - 6 April 2016
As Easter coming around again we decided to take a break in Japan - this time in Tohoku where winter was still in evidence. Had ing packed the down jackets and other thermals we headed off to the airport to catch Japan Airlines to Haneda Airport, Tokyo.
All was well apart from the assumption the plane departed at 1640 when in actual fact it was 1540. But all was well and we made it to Haneda on time.
Our first night was at the Marriott Prince Sakura hotel in Takanawa not too long a taxi ride from the airport. As always travelling with a vegetarian presents challenges in a country where all the menus are in a script you cannot guess at but luckily the practice of plastic replicas outside the restaurant is alive and well so all was saved.
Refreshed we headed on Good Friday to Tokyo station to catch the Shinkansen northwards to Morioka in Tohoku.
