Thursday 9 February
As Puno is another 1000 metres higher than Cusco the latitude was beginning to hit us. The slow rise in the train had given rise to a headache but difficulty in sleeping now hit us both hard.
The view from the hotel above the city was amazing but unfortunately the town itself had that Peruvian half finished look! The excitement at breakfast was the birth of a Llama just outside the front door. A bit wobbly at first but after a bit of coaching the baby was up and feeding.
We did head into town and toady is the Fiesta de la Virgen de la Candelaria, the patron saint of Puno. It was the end of the festival so it was music and dancing and a processing of the Virgin through the streets. Then a walk down to the shores of the Lake Titicaca.
The only problem is the lack of oxygen !
