Penang - Pearl of the Orient
it is a 3 hour flight from HK and all is pretty organised at the airport with a RM 75 ride to the hotel. Despite being on a deal we get an upgrade to the Rasa Wing - almost a suite ! Seems that between CNY and Easter is definitely the time to travel We had a certain amount of confusion about the exchange rate as Ringitt to HK Dollars to Pounds is a challenge but settled on RM 5 to the GBP 1 which still makes Malaysia good value compared with HK.

his is our first holiday since last September so it is very nice just to relax. The sun is ferocious however and even after 10 minutes in the sun we are a bit beetroot looking on the shoulders.
Opposite the hotel are a couple of restaurants - the Malaysian Kitchen and the equally local Mario’s !! The Malaysian Kitchen is a family run Indian restaurant and was excellent. |
