Saturday 20 October
A late start at 1000, as today was the day which had missed from the itinerary and so the programme was flexible !
Our first stop was the Centenary Farmers Market for vegetable shopping. Having done the tour we chose beans, pass, carrots and potatoes. The final stop was downstairs in Cereals and a kilo of local rice.
We took the low road to Paro rather than the high pass and stopped at the Iron Bridge. This was the first iron suspension in Bhutan and although no longer in use the hand made iron chain can be seen as well as the iron works up the mountainside.
On to Paro, we stopped for the requisite buffet lunch which was actually pretty good followed by a short walk around town where the dogs were engaged in serious street fights !
Our final stop in town was Bhutanese Beer brewery where we had a tour the brewery which was producing Red Rice beer at the minute. Back in the bar we were able to sample the 6 beers the brewery produces - Red Rice beer, IPA, Wheat beer, Pilsner, Milk Stout & Dark Ale plus the joker in the pack Apple Cider.
Our final stop back in Thimphu was the craft market where we did actually get a few different things - an arak container, a wall hanging and a fridge magnet
Packing and dinner in the hotel - a la carte Indian was the order of the evening!
