Tuesday 25 December
Today our journey took us from the Bolaven plateau down to the banks of the Mekong river but first a visit to a waterfall. The Tad Fane waterfalls.
Like a number of locations the place seems to have been taken over by a developer and so there were shops and handicrafts. But in this case the ladies were actually from a village we had visited and were seeing how this location worked out. The deal is the management pay them a salary and they sell there handicrafts !
Our stop for the next 2 nights was in a riverside village at the Pon Arena hotel. The town was small but the hotel was very comfortable with a river view and a couple of good local restaurants. We managed to find someone to do laundry and next door was family run massage which was very good and to be recommended.
We had dinner overlooking the river - Mekong fish and chips.
