Saturday 27 December
Today we wandered round the city and the best find was a rooftop cafe with passable cappuccino !
Needles to say the day did not pass without some purchases - a tablecloth and napkins and finally we found some painted bone musician figures.
We also found a small massage joint almost at the end of the city which was not Ayurvedic and so attractive to me !
Sunday 28 December
Today the plan was to head to the desert but our driver insisted that there was no fort rather than argue at this stage we settled for a day in the City.
Having been dropped off at our normal spot by the laundry we headed towards Sagar Lake. This was originally built as a reservoir for the City but today is billed as a place for boating and strolling. Well as always in India all things are relative !
The route to the lake is is lined with the usual sellers of tourist trinkets but as usual not a lot of hassle. The Lake itself was cute but Stuart was not up for a boat ride so we climbed and managed to get some good views of the city walls.
Back on the road we had seen the Cultural Museum and so we paid our INR 100 and headed on in. It is a private collection of desert artefacts and also recordings. The collection was put together by one man and although dusty it is a hidden gem of traditional Rajasthan now much lost. As an example in all our time we did not see one bullock cart all have been replaced by tractors.
