We left the boat at 0730, which was not really a welcome start, and having been ferried to the shore climbed aboard a coach which set off swaying very alarmingly on not the best India roads.
Unfortunately the road and the driving did not improve and after several hours we finally encouraged the guides to arrange a comfort stop.
At about 1300 we arrived at Nalanda another great Buddhist University destroyed many years ago. The lunch stop finally occurred at a hotel not that far.
We ploughed on during the afternoon to Bodh Gaya, the site where Buddha achieved enlightenment. Our visit was in the early evening and as the sun set the temple area was illuminated by LED.
