Saturday 20 December
We eventually made it to bed at about 2 am having queued for an hour to get through India immigration although the bags weren’t on the carousel for another 10 minutes so it hardly mattered.
The alarm went at 0530 as our flight to Udaipur had been rescheduled from a reasonable 1040 to an unreasonable 0740 !!! I had also happened to check the Spicejet website only to find it seemed to be heading down the Kingfisher road to insolvency having cancelled over 40 flights that day.
Undeterred we headed off to terminal 1 where things were in relative order. The flight was not shown on the board but we joined the line anyway and we were assured all was well.
We were bussed across the tarmac to the Bombardier Q400 turbo-prop through the morning haze which shrouds Delhi in the winter. You can smell literally smell the haze which is largely the result of all the small wood and charcoal fires that people burn to keep warm and cook on. Climbing aboard we feel asleep for the next hour.
