Christmas Day 2015 - having spent a leisurely time posting Christmas greetings via Facebook, Whats App and all the other paraphernalia of modern communications we headed to breakfast. The buffet was looking a bit sparse as we were later than usual.
After dropping off some laundry at a little shop over the road we headed to the AM/PM Organic Cafe on the way we stopped for our first purchase of the day - a 1x 2 metre Yak wool throw for USD 9. We did not have the heart to bargain !
Pokhara is full of souvenir shops many selling stuff we have seen in India. There are a number of Tibetan shops as well as outside Pokhara are a number of Tibetan Refugee camps housing over 25,000 ethnic Tibetans. We did purchase some simple jewellery and a small travelling altar.
Along the road was also a shop selling hand-woven cashmere scarves and blankets made by the deaf. Again some late Christmas shopping. There also was a massage studio staffed by dead therapist - excellent massage but as the electricity was off again super chilly.
As it was Christmas Day we looked for a special dinner and decided on the Harbor Restaurant at the Glacier Hotel. Tripadvisor bills a ‘fine dining’. May be the Christmas rush was over-whelming the staff but it was over-hyped.
