23 December 2015 - it did reach zero last night and still no heating ! Breakfast was inside today although I am not sure it was that much warmer !
The drive to Pokhara - Nepal’s second city was only 2 hours so we left at a leisurely 1000 having bought some local ‘organic’ honey and a hand knitted wooly hat with ear flaps. Our destination was the Temple Tree Resort which is just off the Lake in Pokhara.
Lakeside is the tourist area of Pokhara and very different in its feel from the main town (which it adjoins) which is like so many towns we have seen in India. The hotel is fairly new and magically had heating.
The sun was out so we headed to find some lunch. A desire for a cappuccino was sadly not met as when we found a cafe - Cafe Concerto - the electricity was off ! So we settled for some home-made Tomato soup !
Taking advantage of the sun we wandered a bit and found a barber who was offering massage and after a bit of haggling decided to try it out. Well of course it wasn’t actually the guy we were talking to but his friend around the corner. In fact the massage was fine but super chilly in the room despite the LPG gas fire.
We decided that Cafe Concerto was suitable pace for dinner as a rest from dhal sounded a good idea and they had an open fire ! The Italian theme was followed with bruschetta, pizza and pumpkin ravioli and a bottle of Orvieto - which cost more than the rest of the meal !
