27 December 2015 - we planned to leave at 0930 as it is a 5 hour drive to our next destination Chitwan National Park so that meant that breakfast was a not quieter affair than it had been yesterday.
The journey started by heading east along the Privithi Highway and then we turned south through the XXXXX gorge which our driver described as dangerous road due to the rock slides - although it seemed these were mostly in the monsoon season.
Once through the gorge the land became much flatter and agricultural. Our destination the Jungle Villa Resort is on the banks of the Rapti River and the National Park - which used to be a Royal Hunting Reserve is on the other bank.
We arrived at about 1500 to be told that at 1530 we were off on an Elephant Safari. This was met with some trepidation by Mr S. We climbed on via a set of tall steps and settled ourselves in the chowdah and we were off at a steely pace !
At this time of year the elephant grass is not 20 feet high as it is summer so we had a good view of the land around and the wildlife.
