Sunday 4 October - up at the crack of dawn as we had some confusion over the departure time and the length of time to get to the airport in the morning. Pete was convinced we needed to leave at 0630 for the flight at 0915 which was 0950. Myriam was a 0700 departure. After consulting the driver we settled on 0645 !
At the airport all was smooth although we did have to check in Stuart’s broom and also the can of Raid in my back pack which I had forgotten to give to the driver. This was gifted to the security team !
The flight to Bangkok was swift and hassle free with a 2 hour layover before the connection to Hong Kong - time enough for duty free purchases and a light lunch !
Boarding was somewhat haphazard as we were traveling with a Mainland group of tourists who had difficulty in tying up boarding passes and seat numbers ! Not to mention a desire to wee before take off. Departure was on time but as Hong Kong was suffering from the tail end of a typhoon we were circled for over an hour before a bumpy landing. Our fellow passengers found the idea of being in their seats with seat belts on while the plane was thrown around the sky a difficult concept to get to grips with. The Thai stewards almost lost their cool on several occasions.
The transition through the airport was smooth (however today we discovered we had left one piece of luggage - a broom !). Mr Kwok our driver arrived and deposited us safely back in Happy Valley - if a little late.
