Christmas Day 2011 - The alarm went at 0700 as the excursion to Cai Be floating market started at 0900. After a hearty breakfast we climbed aboard smaller boat and set of to the Cai Be floating market. Interestingly it seemed mostly to be a wholesale market with larger boats selling a range of agricultural products.
A stop for tea and demonstration of rice paper making followed by a visit to a traditional Delta wooden house and then back for lunch.
The afternoon saw us back to the river and a short hop to the island of Bin Thanh. All along the inlets are small fish farms raising Tilipia and Basa and right there is the fish processing plant where the fish are delivered alive for processing.
The we made a stop at a small village whose main activity was weaving rattan mats which are used to sleep on.
