Thursday 19 January
We landed and made our way to a number of white Scorpio vehicles for a most hair raising 30 minute drive through Bhagalpur – horns blaring like the Chief Ministers cavalcade.
Our destination was the Cleveland’s House which was built by Cleveland the Governor General of Bengal in 1837. Today it is used by the local university but it a is a magnificent palladium style building. In the town other buildings of similar age still are in use including a secondary school.
The next stop was billed a a silk weaving village but was actually a cotton weaving co-operative. Each family responsible for part of the process.
