Friday 20 January After a short post breakfast cruise, we pulled into the bank at Sultangunj the site of the Shiva Temple and a Mosque both built on rocky outcrops. Today was a feast day and so there were thousands of pilgrims washing in the Ganges and then making their way to the temple. Wisely we decided not to join the crush but wandered through the crowds. Back on the boat, and after a short cruise upstream we stopped for refuelling from a truck on the road and a long plastic pipe. At sunset we stopped on one of the many sand banks in the river that were being cutivated with mustard and other cash crops.
