21/22 December
The worst thing about flights to India is the un-godly hour at which they all seem to depart and arrive. Dragonair to Bangalore was no exception leaving Hong Kong at 2240 and arriving at 0430 HK time.
Bangalore airport, serving the IT capital of India, was navigated with no problem despite a large number of international carriers. Unfortunately our pick up from the Olde Bangalore, our overnight stop was no where to be seen.
Unlike Mumbai things were well organised with a line of airport metered cabs - the only challenge was that as the Olde Bangalore was not far from the airport the drivers were less than keen to take the fare. After much feigning of no knowledge we did set off having promised "a big tip la!"
The road from the airport is a 6 lane highway but we turned off onto a less that well made road and following the signs finally made it to the Olde Bangalore Resort and Conference Centre waking up the gate keeper and the reception. Seemingly they had no record of our booking but no matter we were soon off to our luxury tent.
The charm of the Olde Bangalore - and we would reccomend - is that the rooms are in fact tents although with all ammenities ! Anyway we were soon in bed.
