Wednesday 11 - Friday 13 December - The drive from Mission Beach was long over 500 kms through the landscape of Northern Queensland. So arriving in Airlie Beach was a bit of a shock.
The small town is the gateway to Hamilton Island and overlooks a beautiful bay. The town itself has become 'backpacker central'.
The Airlie Waterfront B&B itself was a short walk from the main street ands was well deserving of its reviews. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items and they even made the bed and did the washing up !
The town is developing itself as a marina centre with two new ones being built which are home to some very expensive yachts and also flats overlooking the marina.
Our eating experiences were a bit more varied with Fish, Moroccan and our final night at the local Indian !
We did take a drive out to Cedar Creek Falls - where the falls were not falling but Stuart did manage to swim in the rain.
