Sunday 14 October
The plan was to make a late start so at 1000 we headed off for a gentle hike through the pine forests. The destination was a small temple perched high up on the cliff edge above us. After a couple of false start trying to make our way trough the locals font gardens we finally found the trail head and began to climb.
The trail too us up through pine forest and over streams which was all very nice except after an hour or so there seemed to be some furtive discussions amongst our guide and driver who - in a second Michael Palin moment in as many days - had to admit they had missed the turning and we seemed to be on the old pony trail to Paro.
Not to worry we headed back the way we came - this time missing the back yards of the villagers and headed for lunch at the Risum Resort - Haa’s only tourist resort. The veggie buffet, with Haa’s answer to the Momo (made with buck wheat), was fine and after several cups of tea the afternoon was planned.
Two more temples - the White and Black which are small and very old.
We had been looking forward to another Hot Stone bath but it seems only one was included in the itinerary and USD 30 plus a 3 hour wait seemed a bit steep.
