Having read Tripadvisor we set of with some trepidation to the Eravikulam National Park about 30 minutes outside Munnar. As arrived the local school girls were performing a dance encouraged by the nuns. As a result the queue at the ticket office was short although ticket issue not that speedy. 500 rupees each later we set of for the bus to take us up to the start of the hiking trail.
In India fashion although things were organised when put into practice the plans seem to fall apart. But t we managed to get on a bus and off we set for a 15 minute ride. We rewarded ourselves with a tea and banana cake at the cafe.
The climb was up a winding tarmac path with great views down to the tea and up to the rock and the home of the Thar. As we ploughed on a very kind lady stopped us and pointed up the a Thar on the ridge. Given the crowds and the noise this was a very intrepid goat !
Having reached the end of the path we turned back and on our way saw an even more intrepid goat which posed for the crowds.
Back to the hotel for lunch after an ATM stop and toasted cheese sandwich - one can have to much dhal !
